As a Call Center Pharmacist in Giant Eagle’s Closed Door Pharmacy, you will play a critical role in delivering safe, accurate, and convenient pharmacy care to patients who are supported primarily by phone rather than at a traditional retail counter. Working within our Healthcare & Medical Services department, you will leverage your clinical expertise and customer‑service focus to ensure that every patient interaction reflects Giant Eagle’s long-standing commitment to quality, community, and a customer‑first experience. In this role, you will practice in a secure, centralized closed‑door pharmacy environment that supports Giant Eagle locations and patients across multiple regions. You will verify and check prescriptions for accuracy, clinical appropriateness, and regulatory compliance, ensuring that each order meets state and federal requirements as well as internal quality standards. Using pharmacy information systems and call center tools, you will review medication profiles, assess potential drug interactions, allergies, duplications of therapy, and dosing appropriateness, and intervene with prescribers when necessary to optimize drug therapy. You will spend much of your time providing telephonic patient counseling and education. Patients and caregivers will rely on you to explain new prescriptions, chronic medication regimens, proper administration and storage, potential side effects, and strategies to promote adherence. You will respond to questions about refills, insurance coverage, prior authorizations, and medication affordability, working collaboratively with technicians, providers, and payers to resolve barriers to treatment. Throughout these interactions, you will maintain a calm, empathetic, and professional demeanor, using excellent communication skills to support patients who may be managing complex health needs. As part of a collaborative team, you will work closely with pharmacy technicians, call center agents, and other healthcare professionals to manage high call volumes and prescription throughput while maintaining accuracy and safety. You will contribute to medication therapy management (MTM) and adherence programs, perform drug utilization reviews, and participate in quality initiatives aimed at reducing medication errors and improving patient outcomes. Your documentation in electronic systems will be clear, complete, and timely, supporting continuity of care and regulatory compliance. Giant Eagle’s culture emphasizes teamwork, respect, and innovation. As a Call Center Pharmacist, you will be expected to model these values by actively supporting your colleagues, sharing clinical insights, and helping refine workflows that improve efficiency and the patient experience. You will contribute to a supportive environment where feedback is welcomed and continuous improvement is part of daily work. Your role within the Healthcare & Medical Services department directly supports the broader Giant Eagle mission to serve our communities with integrity and to provide a convenient, trusted healthcare resource. This position is designed for pharmacists who value direct patient impact without the physical demands of a retail counter setting. You should be comfortable working with technology, managing multiple tasks simultaneously, and adhering to strict accuracy and privacy standards under time pressure. The schedule may include evenings or weekends based on call volume and patient needs, with potential hybrid options depending on location and business requirements. In return, you will have the opportunity to grow your clinical and operational skills within a stable, community‑focused organization that invests in professional development and career advancement. Giant Eagle offers a comprehensive, market‑competitive compensation and benefits package, which may include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, retirement savings options such as a 401(k), paid time off, and opportunities for ongoing training. By joining Giant Eagle as a Call Center Pharmacist in our Closed Door Pharmacy, you will become part of a team dedicated to delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate pharmacy care to the communities we serve, all while working in a collaborative environment that values your expertise and supports your long‑term success.
