Haywood Regional Medical Center in Clyde, North Carolina is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in our dynamic surgical department. As an integral member of the operating room team, you will support a variety of surgical procedures in an acute care setting, including general surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, and other specialty cases that serve the needs of our community. Working in close collaboration with surgeons, registered nurses, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals, you will help ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered surgical care. In this role, you will prepare the operating room by gathering, organizing, and setting up instruments, supplies, and equipment according to procedure and surgeon preference. You will establish and maintain the sterile field, consistently applying aseptic and infection control principles to protect patients and staff. During procedures, you will anticipate the needs of the surgical team, accurately passing instruments and supplies, handling specimens, and assisting with surgical counts to maintain the highest safety standards. The Certified Surgical Tech at Haywood Regional Medical Center plays a key role in supporting patient care before, during, and after surgery. You will assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping under the direction of the RN and surgeon, and help ensure that operating room equipment is functioning properly and used safely. You will participate in room turnover, cleaning, and restocking, contributing to smooth case flow and readiness for subsequent procedures. You will also respond to urgent and emergent situations in the OR environment, demonstrating calm, competence, and effective teamwork.
