Medical Writer Position Overview The Medical Writer is the medical content lead on their account(s) and is responsible for day‑to‑day development of medical content. They deliver high quality, scientifically rigorous content that aligns with brand strategy and objectives, while adhering to timelines and internal processes. The Medical Writer fulfills the responsibilities and demonstrates the competencies outlined below under the direct supervision of their manager or designated senior team member. Key Responsibilities Content Development and Execution Conducts required research in a timely and proficient manner, utilizing appropriate resources Develops scientifically accurate, strategically aligned, grammatically correct, and impactful content, from initiation through completion, with input from manager Accurately and efficiently annotates content per brand style guide and AMA rules Assumes accountability for accuracy of work Planning Understands the product/scientific/therapeutic and competitive space and proactively provides recommendations regarding planned projects to internal team Understands the internal BGB processes and adheres to timelines and procedures, as agreed to by the cross‑functional team Client Interface Actively engages in discussions with clients in a team setting Builds skills and is comfortable speaking to content during client calls Builds rapport with clients over time through demonstration of subject matter knowledge May, at times, act as client‑facing medical lead, with support from manager Partners with manager and account team to provide the client with a united, organized, professional, pleasant experience on teleconferences and in person Local (tri‑state) client engagement travel as needed/required Agency Interface and Process Understands the role of medical within the agency and works to set appropriate expectations and operating norms within the team Shares best practices and strategic insights within team to maximize efficiencies Leads by example to demonstrate efficiency, team productivity, and superior scientific quality for all deliverables Preferred Qualifications We’re looking for smart, talented, and driven individuals who are interested in applying their scientific training to drug development strategy and scientific knowledge exchange. Our ideal candidates are detail‑oriented and team‑focused, with excellent interpersonal communication skills. Entry‑level medical writers: An MD, PharmD, PhD, or MS degree in a relevant scientific discipline is required, as well as medical writers with at least one year’s worth of experience in medical communications or related industry Our Clients & Therapeutic Areas Our clients include more than 20 companies across more than 48 brands. They range from some of the biggest multinational companies in the world (including 6 of the top 10 biopharmaceutical companies) to smaller biotechs and companies focused on a single disease with a single product. We work in some of the most scientifically challenging and rapidly evolving disease states, including cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology, immunology, infectious disease, nephrology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, pulmonology, and rheumatology. Our Teams Our Medical and Scientific Affairs Department consists of 70+ full‑time team members, including MDs, PhDs, PharmDs, and engineers. Our current staff is represented by a wide range of higher learning institutions, including (but not limited to) Albert Einstein, Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, New York University, Northwestern, Memorial SloanKettering, Mt.Sinai, Princeton, Rockefeller, Rutgers, Stanford, Thomas Jefferson, UCBerkeley, UCSanFrancisco, University of Chicago, University of Maryland, University of Massachusetts, University of Pittsburgh, University of Pennsylvania, University of the Sciences (Philadelphia), and Yale. Our Commitment to Teaching & Development We are an official student rotation site for six different pharmacy schools; teaching and mentoring is a part of the fabric of our business. Additionally, we have regular internal meetings to make sure we’re teaching each other, including lunch ‘n’ learns, "medical buddy" programs, and outside speakers. Salary Range: $70,000 – $95,000 USD BGB Group is headquartered in New York City, and the salary range listed reflects the expected base compensation for this role in the New York City metropolitan area. This position may be performed remotely within the United States. For candidates located outside the New York City area, compensation will be adjusted to reflect the applicable market for the employee’s primary work location. Final compensation will be determined based on geographic location, experience, qualifications, and other job‑related factors.
