Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Manages the coordination of all shipments, tracking, processing, and storage of incoming and outgoing packages and materials, performing duties like inventory management, order picking, packing, and loading trucks. Key requirements include a high school diploma or GED, strong organizational skills, computer proficiency, and forklift certified. Essential tasks involve accurate record-keeping, maintaining organized workspaces, and ensuring the integrity of shipped and received goods.

Key Responsibilities

• Receiving:

Accepting, unloading, and inspecting deliveries for damage and accuracy, verifying items against purchase orders.

• Inventory Management:

Documenting and tracking incoming and outgoing stock, maintaining accurate inventory records.

• Storage & Distribution:

Storing received items in designated areas and distributing them to the correct departments or individuals.

• Order Fulfillment:

Picking customer orders based on pick tickets, ensuring the correct items and quantities are selected.

• Shipping:

Preparing items for shipment, including packing, weighing, and labeling.

• Documentation:

Completing and scanning all necessary shipping, receiving paperwork, and maintaining accurate records.

• Workspace Maintenance:

Keeping the shipping and receiving area clean, organized, and safe.

• Logistics Coordination:

Obtaining shipping rate quotes, scheduling shipments, and liaising with shipping carriers like FedEx and UPS.

Requirements

• Education:

A high school diploma or GED is required.

• Skills:

• 1. Attention to Detail: Crucial for accurately counting, tracking, and verifying shipments.

• 1. Organizational Skills: Needed to maintain an orderly workspace and manage inventory efficiently.

• 1. Computer Proficiency: Ability to use shipping software, inventory management systems, and general computer applications.

• 1. Communication Skills: For coordinating with sales staff, customers, and other departments.

• Experience:

• 1. Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations is preferred

• 1. Experience with specific shipping software (e.g., UPS WorldShip) and freight companies.

• Physical & Equipment Skills:

• 1. Ability to perform tasks such as manual loading and unloading.

• 1. Forklift operation experience is frequently required for moving larger items.
