Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Fremon, CA must be onsite 5 days a week

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with 5 6 years of experience to join a fast-paced engineering team building a new internal application that will help engineering organizations streamline day-to-day operations and improve efficiency.

This is a hands-on coding role where strong software development skills are just as important as testing expertise. The ideal candidate has a passion for automation, software quality, and engineering excellence, and can thrive in an environment with both scheduled releases and rapid deployment cycles.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and test suites.
• Build automated tests for web applications, APIs, integration points, and end-to-end user workflows.
• Partner closely with software engineers throughout the development lifecycle to ensure quality is built into every release.
• Create and maintain automation that supports both planned release schedules and on-demand deployments.
• Perform root cause analysis, troubleshoot issues, and drive defect resolution.
• Improve software reliability, performance, and overall user experience.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Help define test strategies, quality standards, and automation architecture.

Required Qualifications

• 5 6 years of experience in SDET, Test Automation, or Software Quality Engineering.
• Strong hands-on programming experience with Python .
• Strong experience using Playwright for test automation.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain automation frameworks from the ground up.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including:
  • Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
  • Data Structures & Algorithms
  • Design Patterns
  • API Testing
  • Debugging & Troubleshooting
  • Test Framework Design
• Experience testing modern web applications and distributed systems.
• Excellent coding, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
