Apprentice Mechanic

The Apprentice Mechanic reports to the Maintenance Manager. The Apprentice Mechanic is responsible for all duties that prepare, support and assist the A&P Mechanics maintain and repair helicopter fleet.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:

1. Perform all types of daily duties; cleaning parts and preparing helicopters for maintenance. Clean shop work areas.
2. Responsible for assisting A&P Mechanics with their duties as asked. Support the A&P Mechanics to perform their responsibilities timely and safely.
3. Will be picking up parts, preparing part and read manufacturing manual as necessary.
4. Need to become knowledgeable with company systems and procedures in Maintenance Department.
5. Perform hangar and equipment maintenance as required by operating location.
6. Assist maintenance and line service staff as necessary.
7. Assist A&P mechanics with aircraft unscheduled and scheduled preventative maintenance.
8. Assist A&P mechanics with troubleshooting of aircraft systems, replacing engines, transmissions and other components as necessary.
9. Updating daily logbooks and computer as required.
10. Other duties as assigned

Subject to applicable laws and Blue Hawaiian Helicopters policies, regular attendance is an essential function of the position. All employees must follow Blue Hawaiian Helicopters employment practices and policies.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• General mechanical aptitude and or knowledge.
• Previous automotive/aviation or related maintenance experience preferred.
• Must be knowledgeable of the Aircraft Manufacturer's Maintenance Manuals and able to make proper log entries as required by Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR).

Skills

• Ability to perform duties as asked to assist in getting aircraft prepared for the flight line.
• Ability to maintain a high-level of alertness as job requires working around flying, taxiing and running aircraft.
• Successful experience working independently with time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines as necessity.
• Must be in good physical condition able to work long hours.
• Work effectively in an indoor and outdoor environment.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Obtain a Class "C" driver license in the state of Hawaii.

USD $38,176.32/Yr.

Maximum Pay

USD $57,264.48/Yr.
